Building Leaders. One Thriving Whidbey.

Welcome to the

Leadership Whidbey Newsletter!

We’re excited to bring you the very first edition of our newsletter, where we’ll share updates, upcoming events, and stories that highlight the impact of Leadership Whidbey. This is your go-to source for staying connected with our mission to inspire, connect, and catalyze leaders to engage in creating a thriving Whidbey Island.

What is Leadership Whidbey?

As many of you already know, Leadership Whidbey is a dynamic, community-driven leadership program that empowers participants to engage deeply with issues affecting our island. With a focus on deepening our connection to Whidbey Island, developing self, building capacity and embracing complexity & uncertainty, we offer participants the tools and networks needed to make a positive difference.

Through partnerships with Skagit Valley College, the Whidbey Institute, the Economic Development Council of Island County, and Sno-Isles Libraries, Leadership Whidbey was created to develop strong, compassionate leaders who can effectively navigate the unique challenges of our region.

Program Spotlight

Welcome to our new Program Manager, Tiffany Scribner!

Tiffany Scribner stepped into the role of Program Manager effective August 1, 2024,  bringing over 15 years of experience in leadership, education, project management and community relationships. Tiffany was most recently with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Island County as the executive director, and previously guided students as an undergraduate instructor of theatre and art. Her expertise will be instrumental in furthering the mission of Leadership Whidbey to cultivate and empower the next generation of leaders in our community.

"We are thrilled to welcome Tiffany to the Leadership Whidbey team," said Laura Flores Cailloux. "Her passion and deep connection to the community make her the perfect fit for this role. We are confident that under her guidance, Leadership Whidbey will continue to thrive and make a meaningful impact." Brittany Knutson also articulated excitement about Scribner filling this important role, stating, “Tiffany’s passion for building intentional community on Whidbey Island and commitment to justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion are inspiring. It is so clear that her work with Leadership Whidbey will center these commitments, making the program and our communities better.”

Ms. Scribner is equally enthusiastic about joining Leadership Whidbey. "As a graduate of the inaugural cohort of Leadership Whidbey, I am honored to be a part of this organization. I know how transformative and empowering this program was for me and I look forward to working with our participants, alumni, and community partners to build on the strong foundation that Leadership Whidbey has established," she said.

Leadership Whidbey is a community-based leadership development program designed to educate and inspire individuals to engage in leadership in their community. Through a comprehensive curriculum, participants gain the skills, knowledge, and connections needed to address the challenges facing Whidbey Island and beyond.
