Community Partners & Supporters

Our program partners and program supporters are foundational to Leadership Whidbey.

 

Program Partners actively participate as members of our Oversight Group, engage in program planning and development, community outreach, and provide financial/in-kind support.

Economic Development Council for Island County  is a 501(c)6 non-profit focused on promoting and assisting business growth. They are the Associate Development Organization which serves as the local economic development partner for the Washington State Department of Commerce, and is designated by Island County to coordinate business recruitment, retention and expansion activities.  Supporting research, planning, and implementation of regional and local economic development strategies, they promote Island County as a quality of life locale for business development and living wage jobs.

Skagit Valley College Skagit Valley College, located in Mount Vernon, has satellite campuses in Oak Harbor, Anacortes, Friday Harbor, and Burlington. The mission of the college is to cultivate student learning and achievement; contribute to the educational, personal, and economic success of students; and promote equitable and thriving communities. The SVC Foundation serves as our fiscal agent and provides scholarship support to students and staff to participate in Leadership Whidbey.

Sno-Isle Libraries Sno-Isle Libraries serves over 770,000 residents across 2,260 square miles in Snohomish and Island county through 23 community libraries, online services and Library on Wheels. Their mission is to engage and inspire our communities through equitable access to knowledge and resources.

The Whidbey Institute is a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit and a home for transformational learning since 1972. Our mission is to nurture the conditions for transformational learning, and our purpose is to grow the human capacity to engage generatively with the challenges of our time in service to a future in which people and planet thrive together. Our home for this work is a 106-acre conservation forest campus with a 4-mile public trail network on South Whidbey Island.

Our Funding Partners provide financial support to supplement program operational costs and community scholarships via grants.

The Goosefoot Community Fund works together with the South Whidbey community to create essential solutions. Their goal is to preserve great places, address community needs, grow local businesses, and connect neighbors. Goosefoot provided critical infrastructure planning funds to Leadership Whidbey in 2019

Island Thrift of Oak Harbor is a non-profit community thrift store whose purpose is to enhance the quality of life in Island County. They provide a pleasant and affordable shopping experience, a convenient system for recycling donated items, and a generous grant program that supports a variety of services, programs, projects, and events for people of all ages.

Skagit Valley College Foundation is a non-profit organization that works to identify, promote, receive and manage all gifts to Skagit Valley College from individuals, corporations, foundations and other organizations. Overseen by a board of governors and staffed by a professional development team, the SVC Foundation administers all gifts in accordance with donor wishes.

Whidbey Community Foundation is Whidbey Islands only Island-wide community foundation. Their mission is to improve the quality of life on Whidbey Island by providing support for the nonprofit sector, assisting donors to build and preserve enduring assets for charitable purposes, and meeting community needs through financial awards.
